Our gardening subgroup has Task Days twice a month:
2nd Sunday in the month, 10:30 – 12:30
4th Tuesday in the month, 10:00 – 12:00
We take measures to ensure that as a volunteer you will be safe during our Task Days – please have a look at section “Coronavirus Issues” on the EVENTS page.
If you would like to volunteer with us, you will be assured of a warm welcome! See right for upcoming activities. For a full list of activities go to the Events page.
You will be equally welcome if you want to become a member. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Heaton Mersey. Email our Secretary for an application form. (See CONTACT US page.) No subscription fees (so far!) and you can cease membership at any time. As a member you will be welcome at our quarterly meetings and Annual General Meeting at The Heaton pub. We also get together (in normal times!) every month or so for an informal meal out. (You don’t have to be member to attend these, but better to let us know beforehand so we have a big enough table booked.)
The Heaton Mersey Collective is keen to connect with other local groups and organisations. The photo on the left shows some of us at a bulb planting day in Heaton Mersey. The volunteers included also people from SLH (Sustainable Living in the Heatons) and the Stockport Rotary Club Lamplighter.
Postscript:
The sense of belonging to a community has declined over the past five years as official figures (Office for National Statistics) show people are engaging less with their neighbours and more with social media. We are countering this with our events and activities.
